Sun University World Tour at Shanghai and Nanjing

On the afternoon of Oct 25, 435 students from universities around the Shanghai area joined our Sun University World Tour at Fudan University (复旦大学) . Today at Nanjing we wrapped up another two Sun University World Tour events, one at Nanjing University (南京大学) with 419 students, and the other at Nanjing University of Postal and Telecommunications (南京邮电大学) with 228 students. Most these students received a Sun University World Tour T-Shirt, an SDN All Access Kit (2 DVD's with all Sun development tools), and the OpenSolaris Starter Kit. (We ran out of give-aways but we promised to mail them to the students when we are back to Beijing.)

You might ask why we schedule two events side by side today instead of running them together? That is a very good question. In fact, we did not schedule two events, we only planned for one. Last night it turned out that there would be too many students coming and the event venue wouldn't fit them all. So during dinner we made the decision to run an extra event side by side to the planned one.

Fortunately we had enough speakers because we are running the ACM/ICPC student code competition at the same time in Nanjing. So, we split us into two teams, one team to cover the planned event, and the other team to cover the extra event. With the lesson learned from our previous Sun University World Tour at Fudan University (too much programming details that made the students sleepy), we gave relatively high level talks, and cool Java ME demos, and did Q&A's with the students. At Nanjing University we did the SMS survey (sorry we only have one set of equipment so that we were not able to do the same at the other university), and it turned out that the students love us (and our talk).

A million thanks for all the people who worked so hard to make all these happen, especially for those who volunteered to take the last minute unplanned work load. They are Sin-Yaw Wang, Liang Chen, Alfred Huang, Roman Shaposhnik, Jim Grisanzio, Rita Zhang, Joey Guo, Edgar Liu, Ye Liang and Alex Peng. You are the heros!
